Revenue Integrity: Understanding NCCI Policy and Application of the Rules

Learn how to translate NCCI policy statements into layman’s terms with working examples that can be applied within your organization

NOVEMBER 13, 12:30 PM ET

The National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) applies to laboratory services and includes coding policies and edits to prevent improper coding and payment. This 60-minute discussion will provide the foundational information that allows you to translate NCCI policy statements into layman’s terms with working examples for education that can be applied within your organization.

For instance, Robin will review the policy for duplicate testing of same or similar specimens with a working example of how to audit documentation for a bone marrow case with overlapping services for flow cytometry and immunohistochemical stains. Included in the topics for discussion is a review of guidelines for modifiers 59, XE, XS, XP, and XU as well as modifier 91.  Learn which modifiers are appropriate for billing of laboratory services and which are not.
