Session: Wednesday, June 14, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
With healthcare and diagnostics being reshaped by a number of key macro trends, laboratories face both challenges and opportunities. Rising consumerism, growth in AI and machine learning, COVID-shaped staffing shortages, shifts in patient behavior, and ongoing regulatory and reimbursement struggles are among the factors contributing to an increasingly distributed ecosystem.
Within healthcare, laboratories hold a unique position in terms of domain expertise, data, and potential influence on patient outcomes, but they need to better leverage their strengths. Data analytics, along with the technological means to act upon the insights gained, are crucial for laboratory success. Using a four-pillar framework, this session will provide insights into the trends that are affecting how laboratories interact with providers, payers, and patients. It will translate these macro trends to key aspects of the data laboratories hold and potential uses for that data to strengthen laboratory financial health and provider and patient relationships.
Participants will learn:
- How changes in demand and delivery translate into opportunities for savvy labs
- The extended uses of data in strengthening laboratory financial health
- How layers of regulatory mandates and reimbursement compression have unexpected consequences for laboratories
- How strategic partnerships and specialization between laboratory, specialized diagnostics, and pharmacy can benefit their labs
