The advancement of digital pathology technology offers opportunities to reduce overhead and increase efficiencies, as well as potentially lead to faster diagnosis. As the industry focuses its attention on and moves toward wider adoption of digital pathology, multiple business structures have emerged. Digital arrangements must be structured compliantly, or providers risk taking on increased government and payer scrutiny. For that reason, it is important for providers to consider the compliance implications and have a plan or structure in place for this rapidly evolving area of practice.
In this session, the speakers will discuss the digitization of the practice of pathology and the resulting business and compliance considerations of evolving digital pathology models. The presentation will also highlight recommendations for minimizing risk when considering the implementation of a particular digital pathology business model.
This session will help attendees:
- Understand digital pathology adoption trends and how digital pathology can impact business for laboratories and pathology groups.
- Recognize the overarching regulatory framework that applies to digital pathology arrangements.
- Understand common digital pathology arrangements being proposed currently.
- Identify and understand compliance risks associated with certain digital pathology models based on the regulatory framework and contemplated arrangement.
