It's been several years but Millenium won an appeal in a lawsuit Ameritox brought against the company arguing Millenium's point-of-care testing (POCT) cup program violated unfair competition laws and the Anti-kickback statute (AKS) and Stark law. As we reported in G2 Compliance Advisor earlier this year, Ameritox had alleged violations of the Lanham Act and state tort laws claiming Millenium engaged in unfair competition and tortiously interfered with Ameritox's business relationships by providing POCT cups at no charge to physicians who referred urine samples to Millenium for testing. Ameritox claimed these cups had immunoassay testing strips embedded in the cup and were provided to… Read more...

LabCorp has launched a prognostic panel intended to gauge the risk of patients being stricken by the most common forms of cancer.
The panel, known as VistaSeq, will be used to identify patients at a higher risk of contracting breast, ovarian, melanoma, pancreatic, colorectal and other forms of cancers. Altogether, those cancers are projected to result in approximately 900,000 new diagnoses annually in the U.S. and be linked to nearly 200,000 deaths. Some of those cancers, if diagnosed earlier, will respond better to aggressive treatment and are more likely to… Read more...
Top EHR Vendors Choose Liaison EMR-Link™ for Lab Connectivity
Last month, PointClickCare announced its choice of Liaison Healthcare's EMR-Link as their solution for lab and radiology integration. Over the past 18 months, over a dozen leading EHR vendors like PointClickCare have chosen EMR-Link as their solution for lab/rad connectivity.
EHR vendors are turning to Liaison for help in tackling the problem of CPOE (computerized physician order entry). In a world where physicians increasingly see the EHR as their "clinical cockpit," EMR-Link offers a provider-centric order and result workflow that generates clean, complete lab orders from within the EHR workflow.
Because EMR-Link provides integration to any and all EHRs, and because of Liaison's attention to physician success, more and more lab managers are also choosing EMR-Link for their lab outreach solution.
Live at over 1000 sites and supporting over 25,000 clinicians and 150 labs/radiology service providers, EMR-Link is the CPOE solution that clinicians love because it works the way they do. EMR-Link lowers costs for clinics and labs alike by eliminating errors, callbacks, and rework, and improves care by securely delivering easy-to-read, patient-friendly results to the entire care team.
